  • MoMA, Floor T2/T1 The Debra and Leon Black Family Film Center

Colleagues, family, and friends come together to commemorate the passing of former MoMA film curator Eileen Bowser. During her career in the Department of Film (1954–98) under chiefs Richard Griffith, Donald Richie, Willard Van Dyke, Ted Perry, and Mary Lea Bandy, Bowser significantly expanded the Museum’s film collection and shaped its role in the developing film-preservation movement of the 1970s and ’80s. A respected scholar of silent film and an active member of the International Federation of Film Archives, Bowser was a pioneer in the repatriation of world cinema. Please join us for a day of remembrance and motion pictures.

Organized by the Department of Film.

Film at MoMA is made possible by CHANEL.

Additional support is provided by the Annual Film Fund. Leadership support for the Annual Film Fund is provided by Steven Tisch, with major contributions from Jo Carole and Ronald S. Lauder, Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), The Brown Foundation, Inc., of Houston, and The Junior Associates of The Museum of Modern Art.
